Join Team England for the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games

We are recruiting for a number of roles for the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games.

Commonwealth Games England’s (CGE) leads and manages the participation of Team England, who will be represented on the Gold Coast by more than 400 athletes across 18 sports, with a total expected team size of more than 600. Gold Coast 2018 will also showcase the largest ever Commonwealth Games para sport programme, with 7 different para disciplines integrated in to the competition schedule.

At the last Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, England topped the medal table with 174 medals. The challenge to our team in Australia will be significant and so creating the right support team is critical.

Commercial Account Manager

The Commercial Account Manager will manage and develop CGE’s portfolio of commercial partners and ensure that CGE delivers an effective platform and environment for sponsors to achieve their objectives. Applications close Wednesday 16 November 2016.

Sport Operations Manager

The Sport Operations Manager will work with the Sports Director to effectively manage and develop key Games Delivery projects and create the optimal performance environment for Team England at the Games. Applications close Wednesday 30 November 2016.

Volunteering opportunities

We are also recruiting for the below voluntary roles to join CGE during Games Time. Each of these roles will be based on the Gold Coast or the pre-Games Preparation Camp, located in Brisbane. Travel dates for the Games will be within the period Saturday 19 March – Wednesday 19 April 2021 but final travel dates for each role will be defined nearer the time. 

These roles are performed on a voluntary basis with the cost of travel, uniform, accommodation, meals and associated expenses covered by CGE. Applicants should expect varied and unsociable working hours. Successful applicants must also agree to complete an enhanced DBS check; attend a Safeguarding and Protecting Children workshop; sign the Team Members’ Agreement and Code of Conduct as well as attend a one day workshop in the UK in May 2017.

HQ Operations Executives - Volunteer

The HQ Executives will work across a wide range of tasks, including a ‘front of house’ service for the Team Leaders (nominated managers from each of the 18 sports), management of team transport, accommodation & housekeeping, scheduling doctor and physiotherapy appointments and other logistical areas.

Doctors - Volunteer

The Doctors will assist the Chief Medical Officer to manage all aspects of delivery needed to ensure the provision of a world-class high performance clinical setting and medical service to the England Team.

Physiotherapists - Volunteer

The Physiotherapists will assist the Head Physiotherapist to establish and ensure a world-class high performance physiotherapy workspace and service to the England Team.
